She is done! A little bout of pneumonia kept me down for a few days, but I’m feeling better and was able to finish this little fun project up! I included loops and ties to create a more voluminous look in the petticoat. The gown and brown petticoat are worn over a false rump and, as a result, I graded the back of gown petticoat to be 2” longer than the front. Sleeves are in! All that is left are a few finishing touches and to hem. Lots accomplished today along with a very sore thumb from hours of hand sewing! 🤪. Very pleased with how this 1770’s gown is coming along and eager to get the sleeves in. Today I pleated the back, attached the petticoat to the lining which included loops and string to tie up the petticoat, top stitched the bodice to lining and cut the pocket openings. Work continues on my 1770’s gown…. Draping and cutting out the lining for a 1770’s gown. While the main bodice back and skirt will be one piece, I like to start with the lining so I can make sure that I have the right fit. I am planning on creating several small tucks radiating off of the center back which you can see in the two large tucks in the lining/mockup. Once I create the back, I will take time to create 4-6 small tucks to give the appearance of multiple back pieces.
