Work continues on my 1770’s gown…. Today I made the lining, pleated and topstitched the back (just to practice for the main fabric) and began to attach the main fabric to the lining by hand. ☺️#aimeevictorian #historicalsewing #historicalfashion #18thcenturyfashion #1700sfashion #1770sfashion #1770sgown #handsewing #historicalseamstress

Draping and cutting out the lining for a 1770’s gown. While the main bodice back and skirt will be one piece, I like to start with the lining so I can make sure that I have the right fit. I am planning on creating several small tucks radiating off of the center back which you can see in the two large tucks in the lining/mockup. Once I create the back, I will take time to create 4-6 small tucks to give the appearance of multiple back pieces.
